Come learn from faculty colleagues how they connect civic engagement and sustainability in courses across the curriculum.  How do these concepts apply across disciplines?  What do they really look like in the curriculum?  What have faculty members learned in the process?  Panelists will be faculty members involved in the Chesapeake Project and I-Courses.  ALL ARE WELCOME!

Help us make this year’s Earth Day, the 40th Anniversary, an educational, fun, and enlightening experience for students, faculty, and local residents!  Join the Earth Day Planning Committee!

Part of the SGA’s Student Sustainability Committee, the Earth Day Planning Committee will plan, implement, and participate in the celebratory Earth Day this year. We hope to bring in various vendors, speakers, and organizations for the celebration on Earth Day, and throughout UMD’s Earth Month.

Care about recycling? Not enough time for weekly meetings? Do you need community service hours?  Join the Composting Team of UMD and help us dominate in the Recyclemania 2010 competition!

Part of the SGA’s Student Sustainability Committee, the Composting Team helps monitor proper waste disposal and educate students about environmental sustainability during Late Night in the North and South Campus Dining Halls.

Volunteers arrive at the dining hall of their preference on Wednesday’s from 9 to 11pm to help educate students about composting, recycling, and waste. Our program will run from February 17th to March 27th but may be expanded later on. Think you’re interested, or want more information? Email Katlin Meissinger (kmmeiss@gmail.com) of the Student Sustainability Committee with your name, available dates (Wednesdays), preferred location (North or South Campus), and shirt size. Also feel free to email questions, concerns, or comments as well!
